A gathering of leaders from the Indian Parliament is slated for Monday, December 4, at 10 am in the LoP chamber within Parliament.
Leaders of political parties in Parliament convened on Saturday to deliberate on the agenda for the forthcoming Winter session, which is set to commence on Monday, December 4.
This meeting, orchestrated by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi, saw the participation of notable figures including Rajnath Singh, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, Gaurav Gogoi, Pramod Tiwari, Trinamool leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay, NCP leader Fouzia Khan, and RSP leader N K Premachandran.
Ahead of the Winter Session in 2023, the government, led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, engaged with Floor Leaders from all Political Parties. As per Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, the Winter Session is slated to commence on Monday, December 4, 2023, and may conclude on Friday, December 22, 2023, contingent upon the demands of government business. The session is expected to comprise 15 sittings over 19 days, with tentative plans for the consideration of 19 legislative items and 2 financial items.
Joshi underscored the government\’s willingness to address any issue on the House floor, adhering to the Rules of Procedure, and urged active cooperation and support from all party leaders for the seamless functioning of both Houses of Parliament. The meeting was attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Law and Justice, Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, and Minister of State in the Ministry of Culture, Arjun Ram Meghwal.
A roster of bills likely to be deliberated upon during the sessions includes legislative matters such as The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023, The Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023, The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023, The Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Castes Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023, The Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Furthermore, several other bills addressing diverse aspects of governance and taxation are outlined for consideration.
