The official announcement forย the UPSC 2022 exam datesย was released on February 02, 2022. The number of vacancies to be filled through the examination is expected to be approximately 861 which include 34 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability. There are 19 services according to initial notification but later on 17th Feb 2022 UPSC published on the Union Public Service Commissionโs website on 02.02.2022 inviting applications from the aspirants of the Civil Services Examination- 2022, it is informed that the Government has decided to recruit 150 personnel in the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Group โAโ through the Civil Services Examination- 2022. The tentative number of vacancies i.e. 861 as indicated in the Examination Notice dated 02.02.2022 now stands modified to 1011.

IAS Exam Pattern
The IAS exam pattern consists of three stages that are prelims, mains, and interview or personality test. To successfully qualify the exam the candidates must perform wonderfully on all the stages. Stage 1 of IAS Exam Date 2020: Prelims
The prelims are stage 1 of the UPSC civil service exam 2022 syllabus and consist of two papers. The candidates appearing for the UPSC exam are to appear for both the papers is mandatory.ย ย

The questions asked in prelims are objective-based and carries negative marking on every incorrect answer. The negative marking on each question is 1/3rd ย of the allotted marks of the question asked. In order to qualify for the IAS exam, the candidate must secure at least 33% in Paper 2 i.e., CSAT.ย However, the prelims are not considered as the final score; the candidates who fail to qualify the cut-off marks are eliminated after the screening tests.
Stage 2 of the IAS Exam: Mains
Mains exams are a descriptive written examination. It is the second stage of the UPSC exam pattern. It comprises 9 different papers however, the candidates can select the desired medium of written examination based on their desired language as prescribed by schedule 8 by the Indian constitution.ย ย

Stage 3 of the IAS Exam: Interview
After clearing the main exam of the IAS exam with the required qualifying marks for the final stage, then comes the Interview round with UPSC Board members. The qualified candidates are summoned by the commission for face-to-face discussion round with UPSC board members. Then the interview board assesses the personality traits of the candidates and ask questions related to their hobbies, current affairs, general knowledge, situation questions, etc. These questions are asked to check the fitness of the candidates in civil services.
