Told Canada it’s not Govt of India policy: Jaishankar on killing of separatist Nijjar

In his initial statements addressing the controversy surrounding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau\’s assertion of a potential Indian connection to the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed on Wednesday that the Indian government had informed Ottawa that \”this does not align with the official policy of the Government of India.\”

When responding to a question regarding the Canadian accusation during an interaction at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, Jaishankar commented, \”Certainly, I have a response. I will openly share with you what we conveyed to the Canadians. Firstly, we made it clear to the Canadians that this does not represent the official stance of the Government of India. Secondly, we communicated to the Canadians that if they possess any specific or pertinent information, they should bring it to our attention. We are willing to examine it.\”
