What is The Difference Between IAS and The IPS/IFS/ IRS?

Indian Police Services (IPS)

Further, The initials IPS stand for Indian Police Services. Originally known as the Indian Imperial Police, it was established in 1948. Union Public Service Commission uses the UPSC exam to administer the IPS examination. The IPS officers chosen for these positions will serve as the chiefs and commanders of the states or all of India’s Central Armed Police Forces. Indian Foreign Services (IFS)

The IFS officers have held positions such as ambassador, high commissioner, and foreign secretary, to name a few. The Ministry of External Affairs is responsible for these officers.

Indian Revenue Service (IRS)

The Indian Revenue Service, or IRS, is a division of the Union Ministry of Finance’s Department of Revenue. It deals with the management and accumulation of various direct and indirect taxes for the benefit of the Union Government. It is a part of the central civil service and is a Group A service. IRS has two divisions: IRS (Income Tax) and IRS (Customs and Central Excise).ย  These are mostly affiliated to the departments of income tax and customs, although they are also deputed to several other organisations and divisions. By heavily contributing to the creation or revision of relevant statutes and regulations. The IRS provides advice on issues pertaining to tax policy. Salary of Civil Servants

The salary for an IAS officer starts from 56000 INR, and can reach up to 2.5 lakh, depending on the years of service provided. The salary for an IPS officer starts from 15000 INR and can reach up to 80000 INR. Further, an IFS officer also earns from 15000 INR to 90000 INR, depending on the experience years provided. Even for an IRS officer, the salary can reach from 15000 INR to 80000 INR.
