Twitter \’X\’-pires: New logo takes over Twitter page and brand

The iconic Twitter bird has bid farewell, as the platform now sports a new logo – the letter X. Elon Musk, the driving force behind the change, announced the new logo over the weekend, and within a remarkably short time, it replaced the Twitter bird on the top left of the Twitter homepage. Even the loading icon has been transformed into the X.

Elon Musk has confirmed that typing X.com will now redirect users to the new Twitter. However, the primary domain still remains Twitter.com. Interestingly, the new logo was crowdsourced by Musk himself, taken from a Twitter user named Sawyer Merritt. Notably, the logo is also being used next to the names of the company\’s employees, including CEO Linda Yaccarino.

Yaccarino\’s statements give us a glimpse into the platform\’s ambitious plans, which extend beyond mere micro-blogging. According to her, X represents the future state of unlimited interactivity, encompassing audio, video, messaging, payments, and banking. The goal is to create a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities, all powered by AI, connecting people in ways that are yet to be fully imagined.

Reflecting on the significance of this rebranding, Yaccarino mentions that Twitter had already made a massive impact on how we communicate, but X will go even further, transforming the global town square.

The X.com brand has deep roots in Elon Musk\’s entrepreneurial journey, dating back to 1999 when it came into existence. Later, it was rebranded as PayPal, which eventually brought Musk substantial success. Now, in 2022, Musk revealed his plans to establish X Corp, which now owns Twitter. This led to the ongoing rebranding process that is unfolding before us.
