The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially confirmed the designation of seven venues in the Caribbean to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024, scheduled to occur from June 4 to June 30. These selected venues encompass Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago. Additionally, three venues in the United States—Dallas, Florida, and New York—have been included among the host cities.
ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed his immense satisfaction, remarking, “We are delighted to announce the seven Caribbean venues that will serve as the backdrop for the largest-ever ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, featuring 20 teams vying for the coveted trophy. These venues are exceptionally popular among both players and fans, providing a picturesque setting for this prestigious event.\”
He also recognized the significance of hosting the tournament in the West Indies, marking the third ICC senior men’s event held in the region, and conveyed his appreciation to Cricket West Indies and the supportive host governments.
Johnny Grave, CEO of Cricket West Indies, conveyed his enthusiasm, stating, “This is a momentous occasion as we reveal the chosen venues for hosting the most expansive ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in history, featuring 20 teams participating in 55 matches next June. We extend our gratitude to the Caribbean host governments for their enthusiastic response and commitment to hosting this major sporting event, which will be the most significant in our region in a generation.\”
He emphasized the collective endeavor to deliver a world-class tournament, showcasing the region\’s unique culture and lively carnival atmosphere, promising an authentic celebration of the sport in June next year.
