On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) lodged an additional chargesheet in the case pertaining to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala.
Saheer KV, a resident of Palakkad, is one of the accused in the PFI case and was captured by the NIA’s Absconder Tracking Team on May 16 this year. The accused had eluded law enforcement since the targeted killing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Srinivasan on April 16, 2022.
Saheer KV played a pivotal role in the PFI Assault Team responsible for carrying out the assassination. He is currently facing multiple charges under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On March 17 this year, the NIA had filed a comprehensive chargesheet against 59 individuals involved in the case, which the NIA had initiated in September 2022. The case was launched to probe the conspiracy orchestrated by the PFI and its leaders with the aim of sowing discord among individuals from different communities.
Ongoing efforts are being made to locate and apprehend the remaining 10 absconding accused.
