Demonstrating its endorsement for the extension of seat reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies, the Central government conveyed to the Supreme Court on Wednesday its intention to furnish supplementary evidence in order to strengthen its position.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made this declaration before a five-judge Constitution bench, which is presently adjudicating petitions that question the Constitutional validity of the Constitution 104th (Amendment) Act. Mehta stated, \”We aim to provide additional evidence to fortify the government\’s assertion that the continuation of reservation is absolutely imperative.\”
