BTS sensation Suga is gearing up to commence his mandatory military service in South Korea, and it\’s evident that the devoted ARMY fan base should honor his need for privacy.
Bighit Music, the record label representing BTS, officially disclosed in a press release on Monday that Suga, the group\’s second-oldest member, will kick off his \”required service\” starting this Friday. The label also explicitly stated that there won\’t be any formal events to celebrate the commencement of his enlistment or his arrival at the training camp.
In their statement, Bighit courteously asked fans to abstain from visiting Suga at his workplace during the entirety of his service period. It\’s noteworthy that fans have previously congregated at military bases to express their support for BTS members.
Additionally, Bighit stressed, \”We kindly request that you convey your warm regards and encouragement in your hearts alone.\”
Just last month, Bighit had already informed the public that Suga, who is 30 years old, had taken the necessary steps to conclude his enlistment postponement. South Korean law mandates that all able-bodied men complete around 18 months of military service between the ages of 18 and 35. The BTS members\’ ages fall within the range of 25 to 30. In October 2022, Bighit Music had initially announced that BTS members would fulfill their military obligations.
The label affirmed, \”BIGHIT MUSIC has been dedicated to the significant moment when it would be feasible to honor the country\’s requirements and enable these healthy young men to serve alongside their fellow citizens, and that moment has now arrived.\”
To facilitate the mandatory service for the BTS members, Bighit also confirmed that they will temporarily halt group activities and pursue individual endeavors. As previously stated by Bighit, BTS is set to reunite in 2025, as revealed in October.
Suga, whose birth name is Min Yoon-gi, becomes the third BTS artist to fulfill his military service commitment. In December 2022, the oldest BTS member, Jin, became the first to commence his enlistment. It was reported that Jin, along with other new recruits, underwent five weeks of basic military training at the base, which encompassed rifle shooting, grenade throwing, and marching exercises.
J-Hope, aged 29, commenced his service in April.
With multiple BTS members presently serving in the South Korean military, Bighit encouraged dedicated fans to remain vigilant against \”unauthorized tours or package products that illicitly utilize the artist\’s intellectual property\” and assured that appropriate measures would be taken against such activities.
