Strengthening BJP’s Position in Telangana
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead the organizational meetings of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana on Thursday, December 28, as part of the party’s strategic initiatives in various states, including West Bengal and Odisha. The objective is to strengthen the party’s standing as a major contender in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
According to reports from PTI, citing BJP leaders, Amit Shah will take part in a session with the party’s core group, consisting of senior leaders from the state, in Hyderabad. Following this, he will interact with ‘mandal’ presidents of the BJP across Telangana.
Party Core Group Meeting in Hyderabad
Earlier in the week, Amit Shah, accompanied by BJP President JP Nadda, visited West Bengal, conducting organizational meetings and setting a goal to secure 35 out of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state currently governed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
On Tuesday, PTI reported the likely formation of an election management committee soon, comprising a blend of seasoned leaders and new entrants, including central observers.
Addressing the Bengal BJP’s social media cell, Shah expressed confidence in the BJP winning more than 35 seats in West Bengal in 2024. He underscored the party’s dependence on its social media prowess for election campaigns, citing concerns about the regional media\’s hesitancy to convey the saffron party’s message due to apprehensions related to the TMC.

Challenges and Goals for BJP in West Bengal and Odisha
During the event, Shah commented on Mamata Banerjee’s MP, alleging the sharing of passwords with businessmen in exchange for gifts. He criticized the lack of inquiries into the welfare of the poor in Bengal, attributing it to their inability to provide expensive gifts.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 18 seats in West Bengal, while in Telangana, the party won four out of the 17 seats. In the recent Telangana assembly polls, the Congress wrested power from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Amit Shah is also anticipated to visit Odisha in the coming days, where the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has traditionally held a strong position. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won eight out of Odisha’s 21 seats. Additionally, Shah will offer respect at the Bhagyalakshmi temple during his visit.
