The India Meteorological Department foresees the potential occurrence of dense fog in the Northwest and certain areas of adjoining Central India within the upcoming three days. Furthermore, in accordance with the most recent bulletin issued by the IMD, Tamil Nadu may witness moderate rainfall from December 30 to January 1, 2024.
According to the meteorological office, dense fog conditions are expected in the morning in isolated regions of Punjab, Haryana, and East Uttar Pradesh from December 25 to 27. Foggy conditions are projected between December 29 and December 30, accompanied by a probable decline in minimum temperatures, as communicated by the IMD.
IMD Fog Predictions:
- Dense to very dense fog conditions are anticipated in the early morning hours in specific pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh during the period of 26th-28th, over Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh on the 26th and 27th, and across Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on December 26.
- Dense fog conditions are likely to persist in the early morning hours in isolated pockets over Odisha on the 26th and 27th; Uttarakhand during the period of 26th-28th; Jammu-Kashmir on the 27th and 28th; Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh on the 29th and 30th; and across Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the period of 26th-30th December.
IMD Rainfall Predictions:
- Under the influence of strong Northeasterly winds, a fresh spell of light to moderate rainfall is anticipated over Coastal Tamil Nadu from December 30, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
- A new Western Disturbance is expected to impact Northwest India from December 29. Its interaction with lower-level easterly winds is likely to induce a Wet Spell over Northwest and adjoining Central India from December 30 to January 2, 2024.
- Light to moderate rainfall at isolated places is highly probable over Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Lakshadweep during the upcoming 5 days.
