Officials reported that Rashmi Ranjan Swain, the Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir, visited the site of Thursday\’s terrorist attack in the Surankote area of Poonch district, where five soldiers lost their lives, on Friday.
Accompanied by his team, the senior police officer arrived at the attack site in Dhera ki Gali to evaluate the situation and coordinate with security forces. During his visit, DGP Swain collaborated with the security forces overseeing the ongoing anti-terror operation, providing expertise to expedite the process of neutralizing the hiding terrorists.
Preceding this, a team from the National Investigation Agency and Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of XVI Corps, visited Ground Zero. They conducted a review of the situation with top army and police officers.
The terrorist attack occurred when heavily armed assailants, believed to be two in number, ambushed two army vehicles transporting troops to an operational site along the DKG-Bufliaz road on Thursday at 3:45 pm. The vehicles were attacked at a blind curve at Dhatyar Morh between Dhera Ki Gali and Bufliaz, under the jurisdiction of the Surankote police station. The incident resulted in the death of five soldiers, with two others sustaining injuries.
