In response to clashes between two groups during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organized rally in Nuh district, Haryana, mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended. According to media reports, the clashes resulted in stone-pelting and the torching of cars during a religious procession in Nuh, which is adjacent to Gurugram.
The Nuh district administration issued an official statement attributing the cause of the clashes to intense communal tension, annoyance, obstruction, injuries to individuals, and the threat to life and property posed by protesters, miscreants, agitators, and anti-social elements. To prevent the spread of misinformation through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, and SMS, which could potentially incite further agitation and violence, mobile internet services have been put on hold in the district.
Haryana\’s Home Minister, Anil Vij, announced the deployment of additional forces from neighboring districts, and there are efforts to send forces via helicopters as well.
According to the police, the clash occurred when a group of young men intercepted Vishwa Hindu Parishad\’s \’Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra\’ near Khedla Mod in Nuh and attacked the procession with stones, resulting in the burning of four cars that were part of the rally.
Some claims suggest that the clash might have been triggered by an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist in Ballabhgarh. Additionally, there were reports that Monu Manesar, a cow vigilante wanted for the murder of two Muslim men in Rajasthan, was expected to join the procession.
