WI vs IND: Skipper Rohit Sharma smashes fastest fifty in his Test career to put India on front foot

Leading from the front, Indian captain Rohit Sharma showcased his brilliance with a third consecutive fifty-plus score during the ongoing tour of the West Indies, achieving his quickest half-century in Test cricket.

Supported by a formidable performance from the Indian bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj, the West Indies middle and lower order crumbled, with the team losing six wickets in the first session of Day 4. Rohit’s outstanding innings saw him reach the fifty-run mark in just 35 deliveries.

Forming a formidable opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit contributed to a rapid 98-run stand off 71 deliveries, helping India extend their first-innings lead to an impressive 183 runs.
Currently, in the ongoing Test series, Rohit Sharma trails only his opening partner in terms of scoring charts, having already scored a century in the first Test in Dominica. This century was only his second Test century achieved away from home.

On Day 4 of the match, Mohammed Siraj displayed exceptional performance, registering his second Test fifer since his heroics in the 2021 Gabba Test. Additionally, debutant Mukesh Kumar claimed two wickets, and both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin contributed with a wicket each.
