Despite this initial setback, the opening pair of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer embarked on a remarkable partnership to rebuild the innings. Iyer\’s impeccable shot selection and boundary-scoring ability played a pivotal role in helping India reach the 50-run mark in just 7.3 overs.
Gill and Iyer continued their partnership and swiftly reached the 50-run milestone in a mere 29 balls. By the end of the first powerplay, India had progressed to 80/1 after 10 overs.

Shreyas Iyer displayed exceptional form, ultimately reaching his third ODI century in 86 balls, featuring 10 boundaries and three sixes. However, the 200-run partnership was eventually broken when Sean Abbott dismissed Iyer for 105 from 90 balls, with 11 fours and three sixes, caught by Matt Short at deep midwicket. Shubman Gill continued his impressive innings, securing his sixth ODI century in 92 balls, which included six fours and four sixes. Cameron Green managed to dismiss Gill for 104 off 97 balls, caught behind by Alex Carey. India reached the 250-run mark in 35.1 overs.
Captain KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan maintained India\’s momentum, guiding the team beyond the 300-run mark in 40.1 overs. Rahul completed his half-century in 35 balls, comprising three fours and three sixes, including one that sailed over the boundary.
Ishan Kishan\’s innings concluded at 31 off 18 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes, as he was dismissed by Adam Zampa. At this stage, India stood at 302/4 in 40.2 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav\’s entry into the game set the stage ablaze, as he hammered four consecutive sixes off Cameron Green in the 44th over. India reached the 350-run mark in 45.3 overs.
After enduring some fierce hitting from Suryakumar, Green finally found some relief by dismissing KL Rahul for 52 off 38 balls. At that point, India\’s score was 355/5 in 46 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav continued his aggressive onslaught, achieving his second consecutive ODI fifty in just 24 balls, including three fours and five sixes. He skillfully played the role of a death-over aggressor.
Suryakumar\’s remarkable late charge enabled India to reach a grand total of 399/5 in their allotted 50 overs, with Suryakumar remaining unbeaten at 72* off 37 balls, which included six fours and six sixes. Ravindra Jadeja also concluded unbeaten at 13* off 9 balls.
Cameron Green emerged as Australia\’s most successful bowler, securing two wickets but conceding 103 runs. Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa, and Sean Abbott each claimed one wicket.
