Severe outage knocked WhatsApp down

WhatsApp, the widely used messaging app owned by Meta, faced a significant global disruption on Wednesday. During this incident, a vast number of users encountered difficulties in sending and receiving messages. With over 2 billion monthly users, the outage impacted tens of thousands of people.

According to user reports, the disruption began around 1:15 p.m. Pacific time and persisted for approximately 40 to 50 minutes. Meta’s business website acknowledged the severity of the outage, describing it as a “major disruption.” However, the specific cause of the disruption remains unclear at this time
