Meta, Google Quit Tech Summit Over Organiser\’s Remarks Against Israel

Meta and Google have opted to withdraw from the Web Summit, a prominent annual event within the technology industry. They made this decision in reaction to criticism from the event\’s organizer concerning Israel\’s actions following the Hamas attacks. A Meta spokesperson confirmed their non-participation, and Google\’s spokesperson stated, \”We will not be present at the Web Summit.\” This withdrawal is part of a broader boycott that also involves other companies like Intel and Siemens, in addition to public figures such as US comedian Amy Poehler and actor Gillian Anderson. The Web Summit is scheduled to be held in Lisbon from November 13-16.
