Canada Post introduced a new stamp on Thursday to honor the festivities of Diwali, the festival of lights, which is celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs worldwide.
According to Canada Post, the stamp was designed by Kristine Do and illustrated by Rena Chen. It draws inspiration from the intricate garlands, known as toranas, that embellish the entrances and facades of homes and temples during Diwali.
Described as a vivid display of colors, the stamp showcases warm shades of orange and yellow complemented by green and white, all set against a captivating purple-blue background. The central focus of the design is an artistic portrayal of marigold flowers and mango-tree leaves, traditional elements of torana garlands, as highlighted in the statement.
