Washington warned India against plot to kill Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in U.S

According to a report from the Financial Times (FT), the U.S. government has purportedly thwarted a plot to assassinate Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American soil and has reportedly \”advised\” New Delhi regarding its suspected involvement in the scheme. Mr. Pannun, recognized as a terrorist in India, is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada and serves as the legal counsel for Sikhs for Justice, an organization advocating for the establishment of Khalistan, a distinct Sikh homeland separate from India.

This disclosure in the FT emerges approximately two months after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the government of playing a role in the death of another Khalistani separatist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in British Columbia in June of the same year. Despite consistent denials from New Delhi regarding any connection to Nijjar\’s demise, the U.S. collaborated with Canada in the investigation of Nijjar\’s killing, with senior officials in the Biden administration urging New Delhi to participate in the inquiry.
