The Tea Research Association (TRA) has initiated a collaborative research project aimed at assessing the carbon footprint of the tea industry, as stated in an official announcement.
During the 59th Annual General Meeting of the TRA, the chairperson, Nayantara Palchoudhuri, revealed that a committee, convened by the Tea Board of India, has been established to investigate the research findings. This committee will engage in deliberations and devise strategies to assist the industry in achieving its net-zero objectives.
Additionally, Palchoudhuri urged the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to establish a rating system for tea products within the country.
