Supriya Sule, a Member of Parliament from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has expressed her solidarity with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, a fellow member of the INDIA bloc, following the issuance of a show cause notice by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The notice was prompted by Rahul Gandhi\’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Rajasthan.
Sule conveyed her confidence in Rahul Gandhi\’s strength and integrity, affirming her belief that he will respond with dignity and honesty. Describing him as a courageous fighter due to his sincerity, Sule highlighted the history of the BJP making comments against Rahul Gandhi\’s family, including Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. She questioned the necessity of taking offense when Rahul Gandhi expresses himself, emphasizing that the BJP has not refrained from criticizing the Congress.
In a Rajasthan rally, Rahul Gandhi used the term \’panauti\’ to criticize PM Modi, linking India\’s Cricket World Cup loss to the Prime Minister\’s presence at the stadium. \’Panauti\’ is a Hindi slang loosely meaning someone who brings bad luck. In another rally, he referred to PM Modi as a \’jaibkatra\’ (pickpocket), suggesting that he diverts public attention while others take advantage. The Election Commission, in its notice, deemed such language as \’unbecoming\’ of a senior leader and has summoned Rahul Gandhi to appear on November 25.
